But there were no fish in the ice...This is a picture taken at practice of the North Dakota University Sioux ice hockey team, sometime in 1956-57. We were part of the "Big Six", the only university league in the US in those years. All of these players are (mean) Canadians, but for couple of Americans, and...a Frenchman. I had an athletic scholarship to play for them, but after two years, I resigned, as I realized that, although I had made it so far with this team, I wouldn't be able to make it into a semi-pro league, much less with the NHL (National Hockey League) and survive...PS. Find me in the picture and next time I'm in Bali, the drinks are on me!
standing right behind the guy front left.Send money instead

But you guys had enough to drink already, in the picture, everyone has a hockey stick!
The more I drink the more acute my eyesight and the smarter I believe I become and so, after a brunch of mainly champage, I discern the guy on the left....in dark clothes...is 'sans' hockey stick.Nevertheless, SamD and I cannot be wrong...you either have a stick or you don't.......so pay up.....:drunk:

He is Cliff "Fido" Purpur, the Coach, 1949-56. So, if I ever make it back to Bali, the Glen are on me, volonte.PS. And since the suspense must just be unbearable for you guys, I'll let you know: the French player is the second guy (with a stick), on the left of Purpur.:icon_rolleyes:

Nah! That can't be right, I think the old memory is playing tricks with you Tin. The smallest guy on the team, were you there to ride the puck around?

As I'm generous to a fault I'll revoke my bet and you can imbibe the Glen 'till your 20/20 visual acuity is restored.....or you are willing to take up the hockey stick again. I'll wave my white scarf in support....:icon_e_biggrin:
